Your media stays on your Mac.

The short version

The app contains no advertising SDK, app analytics, usage telemetry, crash-reporting service, cloud-processing client, or phone-home mechanism. An internet connection is not required for proxy creation. App downloads and updates are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store.

Data the app does not collect

We do not receive the following from the ProxyForge macOS app:

• Video, audio, thumbnails, or other media content
• Filenames, folder paths, projects, processing history, or media metadata
• Names, email addresses, account credentials, or contact lists
• App usage analytics, feature activity, diagnostics, or crash telemetry
• Device identifiers, IP addresses, precise location, or advertising data
• Payment information, which is handled by Apple

Data stored locally by the app

ProxyForge stores only the local state needed to provide the features you choose:

Preferences and presets

• Default codec, frame size, editing application, and color policy
• Concurrency, notification, and report preferences
• Custom naming patterns and saved workflow presets

Queue and automation state

• Queue entries with source and destination paths, selected files, settings, status, and local error messages
• Watch-folder rules and stable-file fingerprints used to avoid duplicate processing
• macOS security-scoped bookmarks for folders you explicitly authorized
• Folder access remembered for ProxyForge Shortcuts actions

Preferences live in the app’s sandboxed macOS preferences container. Queue, preset, watch-folder, and authorization state lives in the app’s sandboxed Application Support area. This state remains across launches so interrupted work can recover, but it never leaves your device through ProxyForge.

Media processing and output files

Media inspection and conversion are performed locally by ProxyForge, bundled FFmpeg/ffprobe tools, and—for supported ProRes RAW sources—macOS AVFoundation.

• Source access: ProxyForge reads only files and folders you select or previously authorize.
• Destination access: ProxyForge writes proxies, temporary outputs, reports, and manifests only to destinations you select.
• Original media: Source files are never modified by the proxy workflow.
• Temporary files: Same-volume encoding files and ProRes RAW conversion intermediates are removed after completion, cancellation, or failure where possible.
• Reports and manifests: These may contain local paths and media metadata. They remain at the destination you chose.

Queue exports remove security-scoped bookmark data but retain local file paths and job settings so the queue can be understood and imported. Review exported queues before sharing them.

Permissions and your control

ProxyForge uses Apple’s App Sandbox. Folder access is granted through macOS when you choose a source or destination. Watch folders and Shortcuts can reuse access only for folders you previously authorized.

• Disable or remove watch-folder rules in Settings → Automation.
• Use “Forget” in Settings → Automation to remove remembered Shortcuts folder access.
• Remove queue history, saved presets, and locally generated reports when you no longer need them.
• Manage broader macOS folder and notification permissions in System Settings.

Third parties used by the app

FFmpeg and ffprobe

ProxyForge bundles open-source FFmpeg and ffprobe tools for local media processing and inspection. They are invoked locally and are not configured to upload your media or app activity.

Apple and the Mac App Store

Apple distributes ProxyForge, processes purchases, and delivers app updates. Apple may process App Store transaction, download, and diagnostic information under Apple’s own privacy policy. ProxyForge does not receive your payment details or media through the App Store.

Website analytics are separate

This informational website uses Google Analytics and may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page traffic and site reliability. Those services may process website information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and approximate region under their respective policies.

Website analytics do not receive footage, filenames, processing history, queue contents, presets, or usage events from the ProxyForge macOS app. Visiting this site is separate from using the app.

Retention and deletion

We retain no media or app-usage data because the app does not send it to us. You control the local data described above.

• Remove queue entries, presets, watch rules, and remembered folder access within ProxyForge.
• Delete reports, manifests, exported queues, and proxy media in Finder.
• Uninstalling ProxyForge removes the application. If macOS retains sandbox data, you can remove the ProxyForge container at ~/Library/Containers/com.floor1point2.ProxyForge.
• Time Machine, iCloud Drive, or another backup tool you configure may retain copies under that service’s behavior.

Children and international users

ProxyForge is a professional post-production utility and is not directed to children. Because the app does not send us personal data, there is no app-data transfer to us across borders. Separate website analytics may be processed as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app behavior, website analytics, distribution, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Material app-privacy changes will also be disclosed through appropriate App Store information.
